4 Residential Concrete Pumping Tips

Blog

This blog post provides four tips for successful residential concrete pumping. There are some important things to keep in mind when it comes to concrete pumping. By following the advice below, you can be sure that your concrete project will go smoothly from start to finish.

1. Know Your Slump

Before you start pumping, you will need to figure out the slump of your concrete mix. The slump is a measure of the consistency of the concrete, and it's important to know because it will affect the flow of the concrete through the pump. If the slump is too low, the concrete will be too thick and won't flow properly. If the slump is too great, the concrete will be too thin, and it could run out of the pump. To accurately measure your slump, fill a bucket with concrete and then gently vibrate it. Next, lift the bucket away from the concrete and measure the height of the concrete. The difference between the two heights is your slump.

2. Fill the Pump Properly

Once you've determined your slump, it's time to start filling up your pump. Be sure to fill the pump slowly at first so that you don't overload it. Once the pump is about half full, you can start filling it more quickly. It's important not to overfill the pump because this can cause damage to the pistons and other parts of the pump.

3. Keep an Eye on the Pressure Gauge

As you're pumping, be sure to keep an eye on the pressure gauge. The pressure in the system must not exceed the manufacturer's limit, or you could damage your pump. If you see that the pressure is starting to build up, stop pumping and let some of the pressure out before continuing.

4. Clean Your Pump After Use

It's important to clean your pump thoroughly after use so that all of the cement doesn't harden inside and clog up the system. You can use air or water pressure to clean out the system. Be sure to disconnect all hoses and pipes before starting so that you don't damage any parts of your pump.

Conclusion

Following the tips outlined above will help your residential concrete pumping job from start to finish. If you have any other questions about this subject or if would like more information about our services, please contact a concrete contractor near you today.
